Strategist Sir Alex Ferguson is confident that his players will reach the Champions League quarter-finals.
For the English champions who are in second place in the group, in the final away game they need to at least play a draw against Basel. However, they will not surpass the leaders, Lisbon's "Benfica," if they beat the outsider Galaţi's "Oţelul."
"Playing in Basel will be difficult. But when important matches come, I trust the team," said the specialist. "Benfica should beat 'Oţelul' at home, but we must win a beautiful victory ourselves."
On Tuesday, "Man Utd" played a 2-2 draw at home with Lisbon's "Benfica." The goals were scored by the guests by taking advantage of English mistakes: first, defender Phil Jones sent the ball into his own goal, and after the break goalkeeper David De Gea made a mistake.
"The goals were strange - an own goal and a failed clearance of the ball," said Ferguson. "Of course, De Gea received a poor pass, but he should have cleared the ball into the stands, not lose it embarrassingly. We played well, deserved the win. But football can be ruthless sometimes."
