Strategist Roberto Mancini admits that the chances of his players breaking into the Champions League quarter-finals are only 30 percent.
The English club lost 1-2 to Napoli in Italy on Tuesday and significantly complicated their situation in the group. In the last round, the British need to beat Bayern Munich, who have already secured their ticket, and hope that Villarreal, who have stumbled five times, will not lose to Napoli.
“Our goal was the quarter-finals, but now we are dependent on other teams,” said Mancini. “I evaluate the chances like this: Napoli - 70%, us - 30%.”
However, Mancini hopes that Villarreal will do them a favor: “If the Spaniards play a good game, then we can achieve the necessary result. We just need to hope that they take the match seriously.
“But Napoli are the favorites, and our lives won't end even if we don't qualify. We will then play in the Europa League, but for now we have to wait for the last round.”
