Villas Boas: Nothing is going well for us right now. © EuroFootball.com

London strategist Andre Villas Boas complained about a lack of success after a defeat against Bayer Leverkusen.

The Englishmen took the lead after a precise strike from Didier Drogba, but the Germans scored late goals to snatch a 2-1 victory. This means that in order to reach the Champions League round of 16, Chelsea players must at least not lose to Valencia in the last round at home.

"It seems like nothing is going our way at the moment," said Villas Boas. "We played compactly, scored first, and had the chance to double our advantage when Florent Malouda went one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

"Lately, we have been conceding a lot of goals, but set-pieces weren't an issue until tonight. We maintained discipline until the last minute, but then small details determine the final result. We paid dearly for it."

And he added: "At the moment, English clubs are struggling in the Champions League, but we need to be brave and return to the path of victories. I believe in my players and their talent. Maybe a draw will be enough against Valencia, but we will play for the win."
