American Samoa national team - the worst national team in the world - won a football match for the first time in history.

After 30 consecutive losses, including a painful defeat against Australia in 2001 with a score of 0-31, American Samoa defeated Tonga 2-1 in the World Cup qualification matches.

In the FIFA rankings, this country, along with Andorra, San Marino, Montserrat, and Samoa, occupies the last place. Tonga shares the second-to-last position.

"This victory will go down in football history," said coach Thomas Rongen. "Maybe we will be able to achieve something else extraordinary, but for now let's enjoy this success."
