Safe Anderson, who suffered a road injury, dropped out of the lineup until February, the club announced on Thursday.
The 23-year-old Brazilian traveled to Portugal, where he will meet with a specialist who performed a cruciate ligament surgery on him a few years ago. Anderson has been unable to play since November 2 due to these issues.
Since another central midfielder, Tomas Cleverley, is also unable to play for "Man Utd" due to injury, there are increasing calls to strengthen the squad by acquiring new players. This will be possible from the beginning of January.
"It's easy to say that we need to buy someone. For "Man Utd" club, it is difficult to do so during the January transfer window," said coach Sir Alex Ferguson. "I don't see players who would make the team better. There are two or three players, but nobody will sell them, so there's no point in trying."
In the summer, the English champions were interested in Inter Milan star Wesley Sneijder.
