Midfielder Alessandro Nesta will not be able to play in matches for about four weeks due to a calf injury.
The experienced footballer was injured during a Champions League match with Barcelona last week, which the Italian team lost 2-3.
"If there are no complications, Alessandro's treatment will take about a month," the Milan statement said.
The 35-year-old veteran was supposed to be replaced in the 66th minute of the match. Instead, Daniele Bonera appeared on the field, who will compete with Philippe Mexes for a place in the heart of defense next to Thiago Silva.
The list of injured players for the Italian champions also includes Mathieu Flamini, Gennaro Gattuso, and Antonio Cassano.
