At the age of 43, one of the most famous Welsh footballers and the head coach of the national team, Gary Speed, passed away unexpectedly. The man was found dead at his home in Cheshire county.

The police are conducting an investigation, but as of now, no signs of foul play have been found. It is believed that Speed took his own life.

"We sincerely sympathize with the family members and ask to respect their privacy during this difficult time," - said in a statement from the Football Association of Wales.

Speed took over as head coach of the national team in December 2010 and achieved excellent results in a short period of time. In a friendly match against Norway a few weeks ago, they won for the fifth time out of ten.

At the time, the coach said: "We made more progress than I expected, but there is still a lot of work ahead."

In his 14 years on the national team, the famous footballer played 85 matches - the second best result in the country's history. He also played for clubs such as Leeds, Liverpool's Everton, Newcastle, Bolton, and Sheffield United.

This news shocked footballer Michael Owen, who wrote on the social media platform Twitter: "I can't believe it. Just a few days ago we were driving the kids to school and waving to each other. I am devastated."
