Giovanni Trapattoni remains at the helm of the Irish national team and will lead them in the 2014 World Cup qualifying cycle.
The 72-year-old specialist's team defeated Estonia in the European Championship qualifiers and advanced to the final stage.
"It is an honor and a privilege to work with the Irish national team. We believe in what we are doing," - said the Italian.
The coach's annual salary is around 1.4 million euros - several hundred thousand less than before.
