Russia's football world continues to be plagued by unprecedented brutality.
A video has appeared online from a match on November 4 between the reserves of "Krasnodar" and Grozny's "Terek." During the match, the captain of the first team, Spartak Gogniev, received two yellow cards for arguing with the referee and was sent off the field.
Gogniev couldn't control his nerves and pushed the referee before leaving the field. Whether for this or other reasons, shortly after, he was physically attacked - beaten by several people standing next to the pitch, he fled into the tunnel, but that was far from a rescue.
There he was met by uniformed law enforcement officers with baseball bats. Gogniev was beaten and kicked - medics diagnosed him with a concussion, rib fractures, nose bone fractures, and other serious injuries that required surgery.
Interestingly, Russian football officials punished the victim himself - giving him a 6-match suspension and a 1.2 thousand euro fine. Meanwhile, "Terek" was fined just 12 thousand euros, and the reserve team's coach and administrator were suspended for one year.
The video released by the professional footballers' association FIFPro angered them at such a decision and urged Russian officials to reconsider the situation and penalties.
