Leverkusen signed a long-term contract with young goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

The 19-year-old footballer was on loan from Stuttgart until December, but with his excellent performance, he earned a six-year contract.

Leno established himself in the main Bayer squad and played in 13 matches in the national championships. He also became the youngest German goalkeeper to appear in the Champions League tournament.

This deal could spell the end of fellow German Rene Adler's career at Leverkusen. This footballer is recovering from a knee injury and will become a free agent in June.

Adler was Germany's main goalkeeper for some time, but suffered a shoulder injury before the 2010 World Cup and gave way to Manuel Neuer.
