London strategist Andre Villas Boas claims to have received a promise from club owner Roman Abramovich not to fire him, even if the team fails to win any trophies this season.
The capital's team has lost five out of the last nine matches, including three defeats at home. Currently, they are in fifth place in the Premier League.
"I have the assurance that I will not be fired. I feel full support from the board," said the Portuguese, adding that not winning any tournaments would be a "big failure".
Under Abramovich's leadership, five coaches were already dismissed from Chelsea due to poor results - Claudio Ranieri, Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant, Luiz Felipe Scolari, and Carlo Ancelotti. However, Villas Boas insists he will not join this company.
He also reiterated that he will not give up the attacking style of play, which has been heavily criticized.
"Players will never lose faith, because the philosophy of the game is not a disease of this club. We don't lose matches because of it, such an attitude is wrong," he said. "The philosophy is to show the fans beautiful football and win. We are trying to do that."
And he added: "We need to focus. We have agreed on a three-year project, and I believe in it."
