London strategist Andre Villas Boas confirmed that he has received official requests from defender Alex and forward Nicolas Anelka to be sold.
According to the Portuguese, both footballers will be allowed to leave the club in January, when the transfer window opens.
"Our conversation was honest and straightforward," Villas Boas said. "We agreed to their requests, but this does not mean that deals will happen. If not, then they will return to training with the team."
According to the specialist, neither Alex nor Anelka are currently preparing for matches with other footballers and are not participating in training sessions. They were not included in the squad for Saturday's match against Newcastle.
At the age of 32, Anelka joined Chelsea in early 2008, arriving from Bolton for almost 18 million euros. In 185 matches, he scored 59 goals.
Meanwhile, at the age of 29, Alex moved to London in 2004 from PSV Eindhoven. However, he was loaned to the same Dutch team for a while, as he only received permission to work in the UK in 2007. Since then, Chelsea's defender has worn the jersey 135 times.
