Madrid leader Cristiano Ronaldo is convinced that the English Premier League is stronger than the Spanish championship.
Portugal left in the summer of 2009 and for a record amount of more than 90 million euros went to Madrid, so he has experience in both national championships.
"These two leagues are the best in the world, but the competition is greater in England," the striker told the Daily Mirror. "La Liga is also competitive, but not as much as the Premier League."
Comparing the championships, C. Ronaldo said: "In Spain, more technical football is demonstrated, players like to control the ball. In England, there is a faster pace, the referee does not stop the match, and fans like it. I also enjoy it - the speed, attempts to intercept the ball, all of this is fantastic.
Watching such a match is a pleasure, but sometimes it can be difficult for more technical footballers who have a more vivid imagination. Simply because you are less protected. Perhaps someone will say that there is even too much protection in Spain, but for someone who likes to demonstrate dribbling, this is very important."
And he concluded: "Both leagues are truly excellent."
