Supporters of the England national team received some joyful news - Wayne Rooney will only have to miss two matches in the 2012 European Championship final stage.
Initially, the striker was given a three-game suspension for elbowing Miodrag Dzudovic, but after appealing, the sanctions were softened.
This means that Rooney will not be able to take the field in the group stage matches against France and Sweden, but will be eligible for the match against Ukraine.
Rooney himself admitted his guilt and apologized, but requested to consider that the punishment is too harsh, as it applies to the final stage and not the qualifying tournament. Dzudovic, the victim, also spoke in favor of Rooney.
