Representing Juan Sebastian Veron, La Plata postponed his planned retirement from professional football. One of the most famous Argentine defenders of the last decade had previously stated that he would retire at the end of this year, but was convinced by his teammates to continue his career. "I have made the decision to play for a little while longer," said Veron. "I am happy to represent this club for another six months." Veron began his career with the "Estudiantes" team, and later played for teams such as "Boca Juniors", Genoa's "Sampdoria", "Parma", Rome's "Lazio", "Man Utd", London's "Chelsea" and Milan's "Inter."
