Madrid strategist Jose Mourinho was not particularly disappointed after the defeat in the big "El Clasico" and insisted that the opponents were accompanied by luck.
Portugal also recalled that his players have one game in reserve - on December 17th they will play away against "Sevilla" and could regain the leadership position, which, despite the equal number of points collected, was overtaken by the "Barcelona" team.
"Even before the match I said that emotionally, the result doesn't affect us much. Of course, you celebrate when you win, and feel sad when you experience failure, but our situation remains better on the tournament table. We have one unplayed game, and if we don't lose it, we will remain first in the tournament table," Mourinho said at a press conference.
He continued: "Football is such that many things are determined by details and luck. When we were leading 1-0, Cristiano Ronaldo had a great chance, but even for such an amazing footballer, he didn't manage to score. And everything could have turned out differently. In general, the first half was equal, and after the break, "Barcelona" scored the second goal, which was determined by luck and nothing else."
Asked about the results of their head-to-head matches, which are much more favorable for the "Barcelona" team, Mourinho said: "Pragmatically speaking, the team that wins more matches is better. Time passes and little by little we forget Pepe's red card, Gonzalo Higuain's disallowed goal... But we won the King's Cup tournament final, and for me, the final is more important than the national championship because it doesn't end in just one match."
He was not inclined to blame the referee, who did not take the opportunity to send off Lionel Messi from the field in the first half. The Argentine received his first yellow card for disputes, and moments later he committed a foul against the opponent.
"Maybe yes, maybe no. The referee was running alongside, and I was around 40 or 50 meters away. Therefore, I don't want to criticize until I see the replay," he said.
