Torres stays at "Chelsea" club until the end of the season © EuroFootball.com

Fernando Torres will remain at the London club at least until the summer of next year. Although there have been reports that the English team may sell the underperforming Spaniard, such possibility is not being considered.

The reason is simple - in January, Nicolas Anelka will leave the team to travel to China, while Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou will represent the Ivory Coast national team in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament taking place from January 21 to February 12.

Therefore, coach Andre Villas Boas will only have two nominal forwards at his disposal: 18-year-old Romelu Lukaku and Torres, as well as Daniel Sturridge who can play in several positions. Therefore, Chelsea has no intention of selling or loaning the Spaniard.

In the English Premier League, Lukaku has not scored any goals in three matches so far. Meanwhile, Torres has played 11 games and scored twice.
