Mancini: We would win the English championship by scoring 90 points © EuroFootball.com

Strategist Roberto Mancini insists that in order to win the English Premier League, you need to collect 90 points.

Italians beat "Stoke" 3-0 on Wednesday and for the first time since 1929, they will welcome Christmas in the first place of the league table, two points ahead of "Man Utd".

"We are happy to be in the leader's position, but the most important thing is to be there at the end of the season," said Mancini. "If we want to win the championship, we need to collect 90 points because Man Utd is winning games."

Last season, Man Utd secured the first place with 80 points, while Chelsea collected 86 points. In the 2008-2009 season, Man Utd won exactly 90 points.

"January will be an important month. There are many matches ahead, and key players Yaya Toure and Kolo Toure will leave for the African Cup of Nations tournament. We hope to at least avoid injuries," the coach said.
