"Hertha" club management taken over by Skibbe © EuroFootball.com

Berlin club will be coached by Michael Skibbe, replacing Markus Babbel who was sacked over the weekend.

The 46-year-old specialist coached Frankfurt Eintracht last season, which was relegated to the second division in Germany. This autumn, Skibbe coached Eskisehirspor from Turkey, but decided to return to his homeland.

Babbel's Hertha only returned to the top league this season, but the coach did not agree with the club's management on extending his contract.

Before the winter break, after playing 17 rounds, the capital team is in 11th place.
