London began negotiations with regarding the acquisition of defender Gary Cahill. The 26-year-old footballer will become a free agent after this season, but he could move to the capital as early as this winter.
"We talked to Chelsea about Cahill," said Bolton manager Owen Coyle, adding that the player remains focused on the team's affairs.
Cahill, who has recently established himself in the England national team, could replace another central defender, Alex, who has asked to be sold. Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas said: "We are aware of Gary's contract situation. He definitely interests us.
"We have not decided on Alex's future. We need to make the wisest decision - whether it will be Cahill or Alex, I don't know," the Portuguese coach said.
