Next year's European Championship favorite, German national team defender Philipp Lahm, considers Spain, the defending champion, as the main contender.
However, he admitted that the Germans are improving and promise to pose a serious challenge.
“Our confidence has never been as high as it is now,” said the Bayern Munich footballer. “The results are excellent, and we also demonstrate an impressive game, surpassing Brazil and the Netherlands.”
“Nevertheless, Spain remains the favorite. There are four or five teams that will try to dethrone them.”
He continued: “We have learned to pass the ball as quickly as possible. Players want to control the ball and always attack. It's great that for several years we have been working with the same core of footballers: Bastian Schweinsteiger, Sami Khedira, Mesut Ozil, Manuel Neuer, and myself. It is important to maintain this.”
In the final stage of the European Championship in Poland and Ukraine, Germany will compete in Group B with the Netherlands, Portugal, and Denmark.
