Fernando Torres doesn't join "Barcelona" - A day of fraud in Spain © EuroFootball.com

In the European media, the unexpected news of Fernando Torres' move to the club is just a joke - December 28th in Spain is called "Santos Inocentes", a kind of "Day of the Innocents", which is usually celebrated on April 1st elsewhere.

Influential local newspapers joked that London agreed to rent the Spaniard, and in exchange will receive three young players from the Catalonia team: defender Martin Montoya, midfielder Sergi Roberto, and forward Isaac Cuenca. In other countries, including Lithuania, this news was received without knowing the peculiarities of the Spanish calendar.

The news seemed convincing, as "Barcelona" will have to do without injured forward David Villa until the end of the season. Meanwhile, Torres is not finding his game in London and has recently mostly been sitting on the bench.

A year ago, the Spaniard who cost even 58 million euros played 37 matches for "Chelsea", starting 23 of them, but only managed to score five goals. In the Premier League this season, he scored two goals in 13 matches (7 as a starter).

It is said that there is interest in renting Torres from "Milan", but there have been no more serious reports about attention from the "Barcelona" club.
