London strategist Arsene Wenger stated that the referee took away the victory from his players against London's Fulham.
The Gunners were leading 1-0 for a long time, but in the 78th minute the referee sent off defender Johan Djourou, who received two yellow cards, and Arsenal collapsed: Fulham scored two goals in the remaining time. In addition, according to Wenger, a penalty should have been awarded to the opponents.
"In my opinion, the referee unfairly influenced the result. When Djourou received the first yellow card, the opponents did everything to get him sent off. The referee was naive enough to do it," Wenger said.
"I could have expected that. I don't want to create stories for the newspapers. I'm talking about the game I just saw, and I don't care about anything else."
When asked if Gervinho was fouled in the penalty area in the first half, the Frenchman insisted: "I am 200 percent sure of that, but we know that we don't get penalties."
