Gelsenkirchen security Jermaine Jones suspended for misconduct for eight weeks.
The incident occurred during a match with Borussia Monchengladbach. After a dispute, Jones intentionally kicked an opponent in the leg, while the team's goalkeeper Marco Reus was talking to the referee holding the ball in his hands.
The referee did not notice this episode and did not apply any sanctions, but the disciplinary committee used video footage clearly showing the American's actions. Interestingly, Jones received a red card at the end of the match for an unrelated incident.
The culprit, who apologized to Reus, will miss six matches in the German championship and two Europa League games.
