Strategist Sir Alex Ferguson was not completely satisfied with the performance of his players in the third round match of the FA Cup tournament against "Man City."
The "Red Devils" celebrated victory only after a tough battle with a score of 3-2, even though they led 3-0 before the second half and played the majority for 80 minutes.
"I think we made them play better than we looked ourselves," said Ferguson. "When the score was 3-0, we thought we were already in the next stage, so we took our foot off the gas.
"Then we lost control of the ball, gave them a chance to score a penalty, and they converted it. The opponents played defensive football and waited for our mistakes. We played irresponsibly; we should have finished everything without any complications."
Regarding the controversial episode in which a "Man City" defender was sent off the field, the Scotsman said: "I think Kompany deserved a red card. I have seen him do something similar before."
He also added that the rumors in the media about a conflict with striker Wayne Rooney are fabricated: "There are absolutely no problems between us. Wayne needs to understand that the same situation is being created in the press as before with Paul Gascoigne, so he just has to endure it."
