In the non-representative vote, in which the opinion was expressed by 3398 visitors, 1363 chose the Barcelona wonderkid Messi, who officially received the "Golden Ball" at the ceremony on Monday. Cristiano Ronaldo, the leader of Madrid's Real, also received 40% of the votes, but the total number of votes for the Portuguese was slightly lower - 1343. The third nominee Xavi received the support of 11% of visitors (364 votes), while 8% (286) would have given the prize to another footballer. Another 42 readers admitted to not having an opinion. These results are partially similar to the official ones, which were determined by national team coaches, captains, and journalists. In that vote, Messi received 47.88% of the votes, C.Ronaldo - 21.6%, Xavi - 9.23%.
