Legendary Russian footballer Aleksandr Mostovoy has returned to football. The veteran has signed a contract with the Spanish second division club "Deportivo Alaves" until the end of the season, with the possibility of extending it for years if "Alaves" earns the right to play in "La Liga" next year.

"I am happy that we successfully signed the contract," Mostovoy did not hide his joy. "I think my form is not bad and I hope to help the new team as soon as possible."

The 36-year-old veteran has not played football at the highest level since the European Championship in June 2004, from which he was expelled after a conflict with the head coach of the Russian national team, Georgy Yartsev. At that time, the footballer nicknamed Car publicly criticized the coach's methods, causing his anger.

Currently, "Alaves" is in eighth place in the "Segunda Division" after 27 rounds with 42 points, trailing the leader "Celta" by just 10 points.
