On Wednesday, the results of the symbolic eleven of 2011 chosen by UEFA were officially announced.

Among the best footballers of 2011, most representatives - five - belong to the Spanish champion and Champions League winner "Barcelona". The defenders Daniel Alves and Gerard Pique, midfielders Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta, and the best player on the planet for the third consecutive year, Argentine Lionel Messi, made it to the eleven.

The symbolic squad also includes three players from Real Madrid, as well as one player each from AC Milan, Bayern Munich, and Tottenham Hotspur clubs.

The captain's armband for the squad was given to Xavi, the playmaker for Barcelona and the Spanish national team.

The best coach was elected Josep Guardiola, who won five trophies with Barcelona last year.

Around half a million official UEFA website visitors participated in the elections.
