Mario Balotelli is facing sanctions from the English Football Association (FA) for a headbutt to an opponent.
The incident occurred during a "Premier League" match against London's "Tottenham" over the weekend, when the Italian striker twice headbutted Scott Parker. However, it is unclear whether it was a sporting episode or an intentional act. The referee Howard Webb did not punish him.
By Wednesday, Balotelli must provide his explanation, otherwise he will face a four-match ban for violent conduct: three matches is the usual punishment, with an additional one due to the fact that he has already received a red card this season.
On Wednesday, "Man City" will face "Liverpool" in the second leg of the English League Cup semi-final. If he is punished, Balotelli will miss the match, but if he appeals he could be able to play, as the examination would be postponed for a few days.
