President Sandro Rosell urges the Spanish Football Federation to follow the example of their colleagues from England and punish Real Madrid defender Pepe.
On Monday, it was announced that Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli will have to miss four matches for his headbutt on Scott Parker. Rosell hopes that Pepe, who intentionally stepped on Lionel Messi's hand, will also face sanctions.
"It would be great if we followed the example of countries like England," Barcelona's manager said on "Punto Pelota". "When someone runs a red light, there must be a penalty, even if the pedestrian does not complain."
The decision on Pepe's actions will be made on Wednesday.
