On Saturday, in the two matches played in the 28th round of the Spanish championship, there were no major surprises: "Barcelona" secured a victory at home against Bilbao "Athletic", while Seville's "Betis" defeated "Malaga" 2-1 away.
In the match in Barcelona, the championship leaders dominated the entire game. Already in the 15th minute, "Barcelona" had a chance to take the lead with Samuel Eto'o, but the Cameroonian did not reach Giuly's pass and missed the opportunity to score into an empty net. However, after five minutes, Deco put the hosts ahead, and at the end of the first half Ludovic Giuly sealed the final score in the match after a pass from Ronaldinho.
This victory for "Barcelona" means that they have increased their lead over "Real" in second place to 11 points at least until the Sunday match.
In the match in Malaga, "Betis" took the lead in the fourth minute with Juanito scoring a goal. Later, the visitors' goalkeeper Edu doubled the lead, and the hosts only managed to score a consolation goal.
This important victory for "Betis" allowed the Seville club to temporarily move from 7th place to 3rd place in the standings. Considering that "Valencia" will play against "Atletico" today, "Espanyol" against "Villarreal", and "Sevilla" against "Zaragoza", the Seville team has real chances to move up several places in the standings.
