Defender Gerard Pique claims that constant debate over referee decisions turns football into a "circus."
The footballer made his comments after the Spanish King's Cup semifinal against Valencia. In the match which ended in a 1-1 draw, there were controversies: Valencia's team was unhappy as goalkeeper Jose Pinto was not sent off for handling the ball outside the penalty area.
"We consider referees more important than players. This situation turns into a circus," Pique said.
He continued: "We dominated the match, but the opponents defended well. We know that winning in Valencia is very difficult. We created chances, but a draw is a good result before the return leg at home."
