Legendary Argentine national team striker, 36-year-old Gabriel Batistuta has decided to end his professional football career. According to the statement, the Argentine lost enthusiasm to play despite being physically healthy now.
G. Batistuta, who scored 56 goals in 78 national team matches, spent the majority and arguably the most successful part of his career in Italian clubs. His last club was the Qatar's "Al Arabi" team which is popular among European football veterans. He left the team due to injury.
G. Batistuta started his professional career in 1989 at "Newell's Old Boys" club. After spending short periods of time in "River Plate" and "Boca Juniors" teams, he went to Italy where he successfully represented a team for 9 years. In 2000, the player moved to , with which he won the Italian championship. Later, he spent some less successful years at the Milan club before eventually moving to the Middle East.
Even after ending his professional playing career, G. Batistuta does not intend to withdraw from football. In the near future, he plans to complete coach training studies and become a professional coach.
