Every year at the "Laureus" Team of the Year Awards, the Spanish champion triumphed.
The winners of the Champions League surpassed the Dallas Mavericks basketball team, the Formula 1 team "Red Bull," the New Zealand rugby team, the England cricket team, and the Japanese women's national football team.
The "Laureus" prize is often called the "Oscar of sports." Last year it was won by the Spanish national football team, in 2010 by the F1 team "Brawn."
The prize for lifetime achievements also went to the famous Bobby Charlton, who marked the 54th anniversary of the Munich air disaster on February 6. The 74-year-old English football legend survived the tragedy in which eight "Man Utd" footballers died.
Also awarded was former Brazilian national team goalkeeper Rai Souza Vieira de Oliveira, who is currently focusing on social projects.
