Saint Petersburg club hopes to attract the Juventus midfielder Milos Krasic, who comes from Turin.
The Russian team can still register new football players, although the transfer window in Western Europe has already closed.
Krasic has lost his place in the main Italian team lineup, so he is considering other offers. In "Zenit" ranks, he would replace the Portuguese Danny, who suffered a severe knee injury and will be unable to play for eight months.
However, the Serb's salary may be a problem, as in Turin he earns 1.8 million euros per year. The Russian champions are not willing to offer such a sum.
In the Serie A championship, Krasic played 7 matches this season, starting in 4 of them, and scored one goal.
