"Bayern" officially acquired "Basel" forward Xherdan Shaqiri for an undisclosed fee of around 9 million euros in Munich. The Swiss player, who signed a four-year contract, will play for the German team starting from the next season. "We are very pleased to have acquired one of the most interesting young players in Europe," said Bayern's sports director Christian Nerlinger. He was echoed by coach Jupp Heynckes: "Xherdan will strengthen the team next season with his intelligent play and ball control technique. I have been watching him for some time now and I am sure that Shaqiri will become an important member of the team." This season, Shaqiri scored four goals in 18 matches in the Swiss championship."
