Luciano Spalletti extended his contract with the St. Petersburg club until 2015.
The 52-year-old coach would have become a free agent after this season, but decided to stay in Russia despite interest from clubs in his native Italy.
Spalletti arrived in St. Petersburg in December 2009 and during this time has won the Russian championship, the country's cup, and the Super cup.
After 32 matches, "Zenit" is leading the league this season, six points ahead of Moscow's CSKA.
