Today, Amsterdam announced that former Dutch national team defender Danny Blind has become the new head coach of the club, replacing Ronald Koeman who recently resigned.

Koeman left the club last month after stepping down from the UEFA Cup tournament. Currently, Ajax is in third place in the Dutch championship, trailing leader PSV Eindhoven by eight points.

Blind played for Ajax for thirteen seasons, during which he played about 500 matches. He ended his playing career in 1999 and has since worked as a youth team coach at the Amsterdam club. Throughout his career, Blind represented the Dutch national team 42 times and scored one goal.
