The fourth coach to become the coach this season is the 1982 World Champion Bruno Conti, the club from the Italian capital announced today.
In the club's statement, it is stated that former coach Luigi Del Neri, who has been leading the "Roma" team since last September, parted ways with the club "by mutual agreement." It is said that the fate of the coach was determined by the weekend defeat with a score of 3-0 against "Cagliari" eleven. After this failure, Roma is in seventh place in Serie A and is nine points behind the spot guaranteeing a ticket to the Champions League.
Former "Roma" player Conti, who has been the coach of the club's youth team so far, has been promoted to the position.
"Roma" president Rosella Sensi evaluated the situation as follows: "We want to thank Del Neri for his work. His contract was terminated by mutual agreement and I am happy that Conti has agreed to our offer." Sensi also added that the new coach will lead the club until the end of the season.
"I am very happy," Conti did not hide his joy.
Conti, who played for "Roma" from 1973 to 1990, should receive great support from the fans, as he trained some of the current stars of the capital club, such as Daniele De Rossi.
An interesting fact is that Conti does not have the necessary coaching license, but the Italian himself does not attach much importance to it and considers it only a formality, as World Champions are exempt from taking coaching exams.
The coaching marathon of this season's "Roma" began with Fabio Capello's move to "Juventus" at the beginning of summer. Cesare Prandelli, who was in charge, left the club before the start of the season due to family reasons. Later, the former coach of the German national team, Rudi Völler, took over the capital club, but he left the club after four league matches. Then the opportunity arose for Del Neri, who had previously managed to bring "Chievo" to "Serie A."
