Redknapp: for a while I could manage the England national team without leaving Tottenham club © EuroFootball.com

London strategist Harry Redknapp insists that it would be possible to train the England national team for a while without leaving the club.

The 64-year-old specialist is considered the main candidate to replace the recently resigned Fabio Capello. However, he does not want to resign from the Tottenham team.

"In the short term - I'm talking about the upcoming European Championship - it is possible to combine the two jobs. But in the long run, working with both the club and the national team is impossible," Redknapp said.

And he continued: "It is difficult enough to work solely with a club that plays in the Premier League, not to mention the national team. After all, you would have to monitor English footballers and future opponents. Perhaps the problem wouldn't be felt during Euro 2012, but then you need to focus on one team."
