Machačkalos team's head coach was officially appointed on Friday Guus Hiddink. The famous specialist from the Netherlands signed a contract for one and a half years, worth about 15 million euros.

Interestingly, he will also take on the role of vice president, and will be responsible for acquiring new football players. In addition, it will be his requirement to establish the club's youth academy.

"I am very happy to have the opportunity to work in a football team surrounded by friends," quoted 65-year-old Hiddink. "I appreciate the fact that a serious project is being created to develop football in the whole region. The implementation of these plans will be no less important than the results on the field - I will pay great attention to this."

The new coach negotiated directly with billionaire Suleiman Kerimov: "From the first conversations, it was clear to me how responsibly everything is being looked at. I know the ambitions of investors, the expectations of fans. The whole world has heard about it. My task will be to turn the project into reality."

Hiddink will replace Yuri Krasnozhan, who worked for just a couple of months and did not lead any matches due to the winter break in Russia. He was dismissed due to disagreements with Kerimov.

Throughout his career, the Dutchman has coached clubs like Real Madrid, Valencia, PSV Eindhoven, Chelsea in London, among others. He also led the Netherlands, South Korea, Australia, Russia, and the Turkish national teams until the end of 2011.

He became the Dutch champion six times (PSV 1987-1989; 2003; 2005-2006), won the UEFA Cup (PSV, 1988), won the Intercontinental Cup (Real Madrid, 1998), the FA Cup (Chelsea, 2009). With the South Korean national team in 2002, he reached the World Cup semi-finals.

In the Russian championship, "Anzhi" currently occupies seventh place after 14 rounds, but has not lost hope of securing a spot in the next season's Champions League. The Dagestan team is 6 points away from third place.
