Rehhagel, who won the European Championship with the Greek national team, will coach "Hertha" club © EuroFootball.com

Otto Rehhagel will soon be appointed as the head coach of the Berlin club in the highest league of Germany.

The 72-year-old specialist became famous in 2004 when he sensationally triumphed in the European Championship with the Greek national team. He stepped down from this position in 2010 and will replace the recently fired Michael Skibbe in Berlin.

"We are in a difficult situation, so we decided to look for an experienced coach," said Hertha's general manager Michael Preetzas. "We asked Otto for help and he kindly agreed. Everyone who knows Rehhagel knows that he lives for football, still has a burning passion, and is very charismatic."

After six consecutive defeats, "Hertha" is currently in 15th place in the league standings.
