The head coach of the Lithuanian national football team Csaba Laszlo, appointed on Monday, stated in his official presentation to the press that he is proud to have the opportunity to coach such a team.

Honor to work with the national team

The president of the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) Liutauras Varanavicius expressed his hope that the personal qualities of the coach will benefit our country's national team and football as a whole.

"I have known the coach for several years and I can describe him as a responsible person and a good specialist. We are very happy that he agreed to come to us and work in Lithuania. We want this work to be long-term. The coach has been in our country for a few weeks already. I hope he will enjoy working with us and together we can achieve the best results," said the head of the LFF.

In January, C.Laszlo, the newly appointed national team strategist, emphasized that he is proud to represent Lithuania in the international football arena.

"I have been twice voted as the best coach in the leagues of Hungary and Scotland, but this post is undoubtedly a step forward in my career. Working with the national team in Europe is an honor for every coach," said C.Laszlo. "Working with the national team will be my main and only goal. We have a contract based on the formula '2 plus 2', as I believe it will be good to discuss the work done after two years. However, I respect my contract and until then I am not interested in other offers."

Getting to know Lithuania and its football in more detail

Born in Romania, of Hungarian descent, the specialist said he is already familiar with Lithuanian football from his time working with the Edinburgh "Hearts" club in Scotland, where he trained several Lithuanian footballers, but he will strive to get to know it more deeply in the coming months.

"I hope that after half a year, I will be able to speak Lithuanian. I have started to attend matches, talk to all the coaches. We all know and see how many players play abroad, but it is also important for us to find new players for the national teams here. The national team is for everyone, not just for legionnaires. The most important thing for me is not the names, but the game," said C.Laszlo.
