English "Premier" League - still the most powerful national championship in Europe © EuroFootball.com

The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) statistically considers England's Premier League as the most powerful national championship in Europe.

Indeed, England is closely followed by Spain, which is capable of demonstrating excellent results and soon rising from second place. Italy holds the third position.

In the ranking of 48 countries of the Lithuanian A League, Lithuania occupies the 33rd place. Even though Latvia, the neighbor ranking just below, is ahead, Estonia (30th place) was left behind.

The ranking is updated annually since 2001. It calculates the results of the five best clubs in national championships, cup tournaments, and international tournaments. The ranking does not include Montenegro, where there was no championship in the first half of the decade, and Liechtenstein, which does not organize its own competitions.
