Munich basketball team coach Dirk Bauermann insists that last season one of the best German national team guards Bastian Schweinsteiger could have become his student.
It was expected that the footballer would help popularize the newly formed team by testing his skills on the basketball court.
"With seven games left until the end of the season in March 2011, we secured a ticket to the highest league. With five games left, Schweinsteiger seriously considered playing, but we made the most logical decision out of fear of injuries," Bauermann said.
"There are simply too many events that we cannot foresee and later deeply regret."
On the football field, the German helped Munich club to take third place in the national championships and secure a spot in the Champions League.
