Brutal actions in the "Milan" and "Juventus" match: Mexes suspended for three games (3 VIDEOS) © EuroFootball.com

Defender Philippe Mexes has been suspended for three games for hitting an opponent. The incident occurred during the weekend Serie A match against Juventus, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Television cameras captured the Frenchman hitting opponent Marco Borriello in the stomach, but the referee did not notice and didn't apply any sanctions.

After reviewing the video footage, the disciplinary committee still decided to impose a punishment, meaning that the defender will miss the matches against Palermo, Lecce, and Parma.

Interestingly, two Milan defenders, Sulley Muntari and Mark van Bommel, did not receive any sanctions. The former was involved in an altercation with Stephan Lichtsteiner, while the latter hit Andrea Pirlo with his elbow.
