Football fans named Scott Parker, the defender of London, as the best English national team football player of 2011.
In an online survey during the Christmas period, attended by 15 thousand people, he collected 17% of the votes and beat the "Man City" goalkeeper Joe Hart and "Man Utd" defender Ashley Young.
The national team played 9 matches during the year, with 32 football players appearing.
"It's a great honor. Looking at who was chosen in previous years, I understand what an achievement it is," said 31-year-old Parker.
The Tottenham player is considered one of the favorites to become the new captain of the national team. However, the main contender is Steven Gerrard.
