The fight against dishonorable play sometimes takes place comically - in a match of the Belgian amateur league between the clubs "Templeuve" and "Quevy" the referee punished a footballer for simulation, even though he suffered a serious injury.
After the incident on the field, Julien Lecomte fell on the grass and had to be carried off on a stretcher. Despite this, when the medics arrived, the referee showed a red card for attempting to "cheat" and earn a penalty kick.
It later emerged that Lecomte had three vertebrae fractured.
