Today, on March 17th, the presentation of the football club took place in the Marijampolė municipality administration. The event was attended by the mayor of the municipality Vidmantas Brazys, vice-mayor Rimas Vitkus, and other responsible municipality employees.
The club's president Vidmantas Murauskas, club director Rimas Kostiuškevičius, team's head coach Rino Lavezzini, and coach Mino Ferrari talked about the changes in the team and plans for this season.
At first, the renewed team composition was introduced. Defenders will no longer play in the team in the new season, including Rimvydas Melsbakas.
As mentioned earlier, 3 new foreign players will play in the team this season, along with the Belarusian player who has been with the team for three seasons now. The team also welcomed a goalkeeper, a defender, and a former national team midfielder.
As noted by the club president, all A league teams have strengthened this year, but in the opinion of the club management, FK "Sūduva" is capable of competing for the fourth place in the championship with this composition.
Many good words were said about the FK "Sūduva" fan club. They are considered one of the most loyal fans in the entire A league, known for their discipline and creativity. It is expected that their numbers will grow.
The mayor of Marijampolė municipality wished "Sūduva" success in the new season and thanked everyone who contributes to nurturing football in Marijampolė.
The coaches were satisfied with the preparation camp in Italy. They noted that the team is well prepared for the season. During the training camp in Italy, FK "Sūduva" played four friendly matches against teams of various levels. They won three matches and suffered one defeat.
Tomorrow, on March 18th, the team starts the official season against the I league team "Rodovitas" from Klaipėda. Due to poor weather conditions, the match will take place in Kaunas, in an indoor arena.
