On Thursday, in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League round of 16 matches, the tournament favorites Manchester clubs experienced unexpected losses.
In the English Premier League, leaders Manchester City were forced to admit defeat to Lisbon's Sporting with a minimal score of 1-0 in an away match.
The only goal of the match, with a technical shot from the heel at the beginning of the second half, was scored by the home team's center-back Alexandre Luiz Reame.
Manchester United team found themselves in an even worse situation, as they lost 2-3 to the spirited Basques - Bilbao Athletic team in front of their own fans.
The second leg matches will take place next Thursday.
